Eric Griswold, President

Term Expires 2018

Eric brings a wide range of professional experience to the KCC Board.  He began his professional career as an attorney in South Florida, working on land use and environmental issues.  In 2004, he returned to his home state of Michigan to continue his legal practice as a civil trial lawyer with the Kalamazoo office of Miller Johnson.  In 2011, he left his position as a partner with Miller Johnson to take on his current role as CFO and Chief Legal Counsel of State Building Products, a fast-growing steel construction product manufacturing company, where his responsibilities include managing all sales, finance, legal, and technology functions for the company.  Eric is also the current Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Steel Framing Industry Association, which works with manufacturers, distributors, and end users to standardized and expand the use of steel framing products throughout North America.    
Born and raised in Custer, a small town in the Northern Michigan, Eric attended Michigan State University where earned his undergraduate degree in Marketing and Supply Chain Management. He then began his law school studies at the University of Colorado, in Boulder, before transferring to the University of Miami, in Coral Gables, Florida where he completed his degree.  Eric has previously volunteered his time with several local boards, including the Humane Society and the Boys and Girls Club, and is currently serving as the Chair of the House Committee at KCC.
 
Eric and his wife, Dorothy, met at MSU, and married 11 years ago after chasing each other across the country to attend graduate school.  They moved to Kalamazoo in 2004 and joined KCC in 2010.  Dorothy runs her own private dental practice in Texas Corners.  They have two children, George (6) and Olivia (6), who are both rapidly becoming better golfers than their parents.  The entire family enjoys using the golf, pool, and dining facilities at KCC as often as possible.  When they are not spending their free time at KCC, Eric and his family make regular trips to the Florida Keys for fishing, boating, and relaxation.

 

Sandy Blix, Vice President

Term Expires 2019

Sandy is a practicing Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist; she worked for Kalamazoo Anesthesiology for 22 years and for the past 5 years practices part-time as an independent anesthesia provider in west Michigan. Sandy Graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a BSN degree and has a Master of Science from Rush University in Chicago.  Sandy has also served on the board of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra for 6 years.  Currently, she is the Chair of the Ladies Golf Committee at KCC. 

Sandy and her husband Greg moved to Kalamazoo from Chicago in 1990 and have been members of the club since 1991. Greg has served on the board of KCC and was President in 2010.  They are active golfers and paddle tennis players at KCC.  Sandy and Greg have 3 children who all enjoyed the junior programs at KCC. Henrik, MSU graduate working in Chicago, Ingrid, a senior at Michigan, and Lenz, a senior at Portage Northern.

 
 
Dr. Larry Schlack

Dan Scheid, Past President

Term Expires 2018

Daniel moved to Kalamazoo in 2007 from Grand Rapids.  He works with the Zeigler Auto Group where he has held the position Chief Financial and Operations Officer since 2003. Zeigler is a retail automotive group headquartered in Kalamazoo with 20 dealerships located through Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and New York. Daniel oversees the business development and acquisition activities, legal, finance and general business matters of the organization. Prior to joining Zeigler, he worked in the business development and strategy group at Steelcase in Grand Rapids. Prior to Steelcase, Daniel worked with Deloitte where he earned his CPA designation. Daniel graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in finance and accounting. He serves as chairman of the board of MRC Industries and on the executive committee of the Kalamazoo Valley Community College Foundation board. Daniel volunteers as co-chair of the annual Drive for Life event which raises funds each spring for the American Cancer Society and other charitable organizations in the Kalamazoo area.

Daniel and his wife, Laura, have been married for 20 years. They have two children, Christina (9) and Rebecca (8). The Scheids joined KCC in 2009 and enjoy taking advantage of the family environment and social activities that KCC offers. Christina and Rebecca participate in many of the kid’s programs and the family enjoys travel, golfing, swimming and dining with friends at KCC.

Matthew McDade, Treasurer

Term Expires 2020

Matthew J. McDade has been a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo and is a graduate of Portage Northern High School. He holds a BBA and MBA in finance from Western Michigan University. Matthew began a 20-year career in banking as a commercial lender for First of America Bank, specializing in small business and middle market lending. He also previously held commercial lending positions in Kalamazoo with Michigan National Bank, National City Bank and Shoreline Bank. In 1999, Matthew became the Community Bank President for Republic Bank in Kalamazoo. As one of eight bank presidents for Republic Bank, Matthew managed the western Michigan operation for the bank specializing in commercial real estate financing.

In 2008, Matthew formed McDade Capital, which provided debt and equity placement, loan restructuring, and business operations consulting for commercial real estate investors and business owners throughout the Midwest. McDade Capital continues to provide equity placement for new commercial real estate developments, property acquisitions, early stage companies, and business succession financing.

In 2015, Matthew joined the Meyer C. Weiner Co. in a newly formed position of Chief Operating Officer to oversee all aspects of the real estate development company operations, which consists of approximately 50 properties of prime retail, mixed use development, office space, and multi-family residential properties with a concentration on retail shopping centers located within southwest Michigan. In 2016, Matthew was named a Partner in the company where he now assists and supports the CEO/Owner in establishing development plans and the overall direction of the Company. Matthew is a licensed real estate salesperson and holds the Certified Shopping Center Manager designation with the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Matthew is the past-president and current treasurer of the Kalamazoo Country Club Board of Governors, member of the Kalamazoo Rotary Club, and an active fundraiser for various Kalamazoo area non-profits. He is married to his wife of 20+ years, Michelle McDade and they have four children together.

 

 
 
Robert Kramer

Daniel Baker, Secretary

Term Expires 2018

Dan works with Greenleaf Trust in Kalamazoo where he is a Vice-President and Trust Relationship Officer.  He also serves as the Director of Business Development and a member of Greenleaf’s Executive Leadership Team.  Prior to joining Greenleaf Trust in 2007, Dan practiced law for almost twenty years, the majority of that time with Howard & Howard in Bloomfield Hills.
 
Dan grew up in Kalamazoo and is a graduate of Kalamazoo College and Thomas M. Cooley Law School.  He serves on Kalamazoo College’s Planned Giving Advisory Council.
 
Dan and his wife Beth have two children, Matthew (32), who lives in Chicago and Laura (29), who lives Minneapolis.   Dan and Beth have enjoyed their membership at KCC over the last several years and Dan looks forward to contributing to the ongoing vitality and growth of the club over the next number of years.


 
 

John Barry

Term Expires 2019

John is a lifelong resident of Portage and member of KCC since 2008.  John holds the position of President at Schupan Aluminum and Plastic Sales, a division of Schupan & Sons.  His division of the company is a metal service center specializing in a full line of aluminum and plastic mill products along with extensive manufacturing capabilities. The division has 3 locations in Michigan and Ohio with more than 230 employees throughout those locations.       

John started his career in the pharmaceutical industry in 2000 and returned to Michigan when he accepted a position with Johnson & Johnson in 2003.   

John received his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. He was a 4-year letter winner on the golf team and a part of the Big 10 championship team in 1998. John later attended Washington University's Olin School of Business to study Strategic Metals Management.   

John and his wife Shayna have been married for 13 years and have 3 young children, Rachel (10), Ben (8), and Hannah (5), who frequently enjoy all of the club’s amenities and family atmosphere.

 
 

Bob Huiskamp

Term Expires 2020

Bob moved to Kalamazoo in 1984 from Asheville, N.C. working for James River Corporation as Operations Manager of the KVP Paper Mill in Parchment, Michigan.  Bob left the paper industry in 1993 to found his Registered Investment Advisory business, N.V.N.G. Investments, which he currently operates.
 
Bob served on Kalamazoo boards: Family & Children Services, Kalamazoo Institute of Arts and Rotary.
 
Bob graduated from Dartmouth College in 1970 with a BA followed by a BE in Material Science from Dartmouth’s Thayer School of Engineering in 1971.  Attending Northwestern University, Bob completed an MBA in 1973.
 
Bob and his wife, Patti, joined the KCC in 1984 putting their now grown children through the Water Show, golf program and snack bar.  Bob enjoys golf and platform tennis. Son, Logan, and daughter, Martha, live with Bob’s three grandchildren in Chicago.

 

 
Mathew Molitor

Dr. Valerie Duhn 

Term Expires 2018

Valerie is a practicing nephrologist who is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology.  She works with Nephrology Center, a division of Paragon Health, P.C.  She provides patient care at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, Borgess Hospital, Borgess Pipp Hospital, and Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, Michigan.  She has outpatient clinics in both Kalamazoo and Battle Creek and attends to dialysis patients across Southwest Michigan. 
 
She and her husband moved to Kalamazoo in 2010 after completing their medical training.  She grew up in Mishawaka, Indiana and attended college at the University of Notre Dame, where she competed in varsity cross country and track.  She went on to attend medical school at Indiana University followed by internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. 
 
After moving to Kalamazoo, she initially practiced with Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies/Michigan State University and served as a faculty advisor to medical students and resident physicians.   She is an Assistant Professor at both Michigan State University College of Human Medicine as well as Western Michigan University School of Medicine.  She was honored with the Faculty Physician Teaching Award from the resident physicians in both 2012 and 2015.
 
Valerie and her husband, Ryan, have been married since 2006.  They have two children, Madeleine (5) and Charlotte (3).  They also have a new black Labrador puppy named Oscar “Not the Grouch” Duhn.  The Duhns joined KCC in 2010 and enjoy living on the fourteenth fairway.  

  

Dr. Jessica Liggett

Term Expires 2020

Jessica is a practicing board certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist. She practices medical and cosmetic dermatology as a partner at Southwest Michigan Dermatology and performs dermatopathology services at Bronson Methodist Hospital within the Pathology Services of Kalamazoo group.
 
Born and raised in the Kalamazoo area, she graduated from Mattawan High School and then received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology/Movement Science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  After college, she earned her medical degree from Wayne State University and remained in the Detroit area where she completed a dermatology residency program at Henry Ford Hospital.  She stayed on as teaching faculty at Henry Ford Hospital in the Department of Dermatology for a year, and then attended a dermatopathology fellowship at The University of Colorado in Denver.  After completing fellowship, she returned to the Kalamazoo area with her husband, Kalamazoo native and Mattawan High School graduate, Ben Liggett.


Jessica and Ben have been married since 2001 and have 2 children, Gabriela (7) and Jacob (4).  Although they have been enjoying KCC through Ben’s participation in the annual KCC Invitational for almost 20 years, they officially joined the club in 2012 and have been enjoying golf and the many social activities KCC has to offer.  Their children have been involved in numerous activities including junior golf, tennis, the Water Show, and look forward to all of the fun family activities such as the annual Halloween party, Santa brunch and visit from the Easter bunny.

 

 

Isaac Hinkle

Term Expires 2020

Isaac is originally from Otsego, MI but has lived in Kalamazoo for the past 20 years.  He has been the President of One Way Products, Inc. since 2006 and has owned the company since 2008.  One Way Products is a manufacturer of industrial process and cleaning chemicals and distributor of cleaning supplies.  The company sells to businesses in the state of Michigan and in northern Indiana.  Isaac has worked at One Way Products since 1998.  Isaac graduated from the College of LSA at The University of Michigan in 1997 and was a member of the Men’s Golf Team.  He was an Academic All-American his final two years at Michigan.  He is active in YPO – Young Presidents Organization, JEM – Jandernoa Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program, and his church.  He also helps coach boy’s basketball and girl’s soccer teams. 

Isaac and his wife, Sara, have been married since 1999.  They live in Texas Twp with their 7 children, Gabby (16), Alayna (14), Isaac John (12), Jack (10), Grant (8), Abraham (5), and Ian (2).  The Hinkles joined KCC in 2000.  Isaac plays regularly on Wednesday afternoons and has won the Club Championship and KCC Invitational a few times since joining the club.  The Hinkle kids enjoy playing the short course and the blended root beer floats that follow.  Isaac and Sara love to join friends at the club as well as guests at couple’s night in the summer.  The Hinkles enjoy dining at the club weekly and meeting the many new members who have joined over the past few years.  

 
Matthew McDade

T.G. Nulty

Term Expires 2019

TG graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Risk Management- Insurance in 1998.  Shortly have graduation he started working at The Nulty Agency where he is now President.  The agency has location in Kalamazoo, Otsego, Buchanan and Iron Mountain Michigan.  Nulty Insurance is a multi-lines insurance agency providing solutions for commercial insurance, personal insurance, group benefits and individual life and health.

TG and his wife Corin have been married for ten years.  They have three children, Charlize (9), George (6) and Henry (4).  As a family they enjoy boating, watersports and snow skiing.  Corin and TG both golf at KCC and the kids are involved in many activities the club has to offer.

 


The KCC Board of Governors is a representative group of fellow members that work hard to implement ideas for a better KCC.
